Our actions impact the climate.
As consumers, we love our cars, our homes and our annual winter flights
to someplace warm, and little things like barbeques, microwaves and computers.
As business owners or employees, we manufacture, sell, travel, serve,
support and educate. But the truth is all of these things - whether we
love to do them or must do them - have an impact on our climate because
they require the use of energy.
Much of today's energy comes from non-renewable resources such as oil,
natural gas, and coal. When these types of energy are consumed, carbon
dioxide, in addition to other greenhouse gases (GHG), is emitted into
the air. These gases create a virtual “bubble” in our atmosphere that
prevents infrared radiation from escaping. As we continue to use more
energy, more GHGs are emitted which thickens the “bubble” and prevents
even more infrared radiation from being released. This results in an
overall change in the Earth’s climate.
What can I do to help?
Although there are several steps you can take to conserve energy or
utilize energy efficient equipment (see our EcoLinks page), it is nearly
impossible to offset your entire Carbon Footprint in this way. To truly
balance your Carbon Footprint, it is necessary to purchase what is generally
known as carbon offsets. By purchasing carbon offsets, you are supporting
the development of clean energy projects.
These projects include the production of renewable energy from sources such
as wind, biomass and solar. Renewable energy adds significantly
less carbon dioxide emissions than non-renewable resources. To see how
clean energy can replace dirty energy in our electric system,

certain industrial, commercial, transportation and residential efficiency efforts
where energy consumption is reduced or less carbon dioxide is emitted by modifying
industrial process, along with carbon sequestration projects that capture carbon
dioxide emissions preventing them from reaching the atmosphere.
The EcoVoom Solution
EcoVoom provides a unique opportunity for consumers and businesses
to offset their Carbon Footprints through the purchase of Clean Energy
Credits which go to support both local and national clean energy
projects.
